Rugby In Rotorua

Rotorua International Stadium is traditionally the domain of local and international sporting events and festivals. Rugby matches are regular fixtures throughout the winter season, with the stadium also popular with athletics, softball and other sporting codes.

The stadium is one of the two home stadiums for the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union and regularly hosts ITM Cup domestic rugby matches. Many international rugby events have also been held in Rotorua including 3 Rugby World Cup pool games in 2011, the RWC 1987 Bronze Final, along with other test matches and British and Irish Lions matches.

The Rotorua stadium was originally built in 1911 and has been renovated several times since. It has capacity for 34,000 people – a covered stand seating up to 4,000 and uncovered seating area on the western side of the field. Rotorua International Stadium is located just a 10-minute drive from the heart of downtown Rotorua.

Getting to Rotorua International Stadium from All Seasons Holiday Park – 11.2Km drive

1. Head southeast (away from the Lake) on Lee Rd toward Middleton Rd (0.6km)
2. Turn right at Te Ngae Rd.
Go through 2 roundabouts (5.5km)
3. Turn left at Sala St (1.7km)
4. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Fenton St (0.6km)
5. Turn left at Devon St (1.1km)
Go through 1 roundabout
6. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Devon St West (1km)
7. The stadium will be on the right

Getting to Rotorua by Air

Rotorua airport receives regular international services from Sydney and has daily domestic links with New Zealand’s main cities Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. Rotorua Airport is located only a three-minute drive from All Seasons Holiday Park. Shuttle and taxi services provide transport to and from the airport. Rental car companies are based in the terminal building and short and long-term parking is available for private vehicles.
